Satoshi Nakamoto's $720B Mystery: $1.8B Crypto Wiped Out in 24Hrs
Who is the founder of Bitcoin?
According to the Securities Times, on the evening of October 8th, US time, HBO's latest documentary "Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery" claims to have unveiled the mystery. Director Cullen Hoback identifies Peter Todd as the "founder of Bitcoin," Satoshi Nakamoto.
In this 100-minute film, to delve into the origins of Bitcoin and the identity of its creator "Satoshi Nakamoto," filmmaker Cullen Hoback interviewed several individuals who were involved in the Bitcoin space from the early days.
Peter Todd vehemently denies being "Satoshi Nakamoto." In a statement, Peter Todd said, "I hereby solemnly declare that I am not 'Satoshi Nakamoto.'"
He also claimed that the documentary was "extremely irresponsible," putting his personal safety at risk. Todd added, "Hoback is chasing shadows. He is merely exaggerating trivial coincidences. This is truly ironic, precisely the typical characteristic of conspiracy theories." He stated that HBO did not contact him before the production and release of the documentary, nor did they provide him with an opportunity to preview it before its premiere.

In September 2008, shortly after Lehman Brothers went bankrupt, the U.S. Treasury Department launched an unprecedented large-scale bailout to address the crisis.
Three months after Lehman Brothers' bankruptcy, a paper signed by Satoshi Nakamoto was published online, titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System." The paper detailed how to use a peer-to-peer network to create an "electronic transaction system that does not rely on trust." Bitcoin was thus born.
In his communications with the Bitcoin community, Satoshi Nakamoto provided very limited personal information, only stating that he was a Japanese-American living in Japan, born on April 5, 1975.
After nearly 16 years, Bitcoin has gradually appreciated from an initial trading price of $0.0008 to the current $62,000, with a total market value of $1.3 trillion. Bitcoin has appreciated more than 77.5 million times.
The mysterious founder of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, is said to own about 1.1 million Bitcoins, which is $68 billion (approximately 481.5 billion yuan).
There has been no new activity on the account of Satoshi Nakamoto after 2011.
In 2010, he gradually faded out and handed over the project to other members of the Bitcoin community. To this day, the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto remains a mystery.
Despite many people claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto or attempting to reveal his true identity, there is still no conclusive evidence. It is said that Satoshi Nakamoto's Bitcoin account holds about 1 million Bitcoins, but he has gradually faded from public view since 2010 and has not touched these Bitcoins since then.Analysis suggests that if the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto were to be revealed and he decided to liquidate these bitcoins, it could have a significant impact on the market, leading to substantial fluctuations in the price of bitcoin.
In 2014, some media claimed that Satoshi Nakamoto was Japanese-American computer engineer Dorian S. Nakamoto, although he himself denied this claim, Dorian's appearance has been widely used by the outside world as the image of Satoshi Nakamoto. Others believe that Satoshi Nakamoto should be a group.
Over the years, Todd has also been considered one of the possible candidates. Todd is a core developer of Bitcoin and a cryptography expert, known for his contributions to the privacy, security, and scalability of the Bitcoin network, and holds an important position in the blockchain technology and Bitcoin development community.
On social media, some people believe that Todd was only in his early twenties when the white paper was published, too young to have developed such technology.
In response, filmmaker Hoback said that Todd was already 23 years old at the time, and most cryptographers have made significant breakthroughs at a young age, pointing out that Todd's father is an economist.
Todd himself firmly denies it, he wrote that Hoback just wants to make a popular documentary and does not really care who created Bitcoin.
Coinglass data shows that in the virtual currency market over the past 24 hours, a total of 62,176 people have been liquidated, with a total liquidated amount of $170 million (approximately 1.2 billion yuan).
